WHO WE ARE
OUR STORY
Harvest Fellowship Church started with the story of Pastor Edgar and his wife Kayla Gomez. They began their full-time ministry in July 2020 as Greenhouse Residents at Refuge Church. The Greenhouse program lasted two and a half years and focused on developing leadership skills and discovering their calling. This was followed by a two-year Church Planting Residency. During this period, they dedicated themselves to growing in many areas of their lives, which helped strengthen their marriage, deepen their relationship with God, and reinforce their commitment to His kingdom.
Why the name of Harvest Fellowship?
As Kayla and I discerned the name God was calling us to give to the church, we spent meaningful time seeking His guidance. One morning, my wife Kayla said, “For the last five years, we have been praying Luke 10:2 at 10:02 AM every day. I feel God is inviting us to call the church Harvest. The harvest is plentiful and ready in Oshkosh, and we have been praying for it. So, what do you think?” she asked. Usually, I would discuss a specific name, but when she shared this, I agreed with her and what God had revealed to her. One of our core values is Divine Anticipation, and we believe that God is the one building His church. His heart is after the pursuit of the lost and the brokenhearted, for they are His creation. He loves us because we are created in His image and likeness. Every man, woman, and child in the city and neighborhoods is the harvest, and He wants us all to be gathered into His family. And so, the name Harvest was born.
Fellowship arises from the life experiences of the early church, as described throughout the book of Acts, especially in Acts 2. This is the story that God is writing for those joining Harvest Fellowship Church. The early church gathered and “devoted themselves to the Apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers”—Acts 2:42.
Harvest officially began on June 1st and was registered in Wisconsin with its articles of incorporation and all necessary legal formalities. Currently, Harvest meets at Pastor Edgar and Kayla’s home until the church exceeds the hosting capacity of their residence.
